Things just got a little more comfortable around here. This week, our Aeron chairs were delivered. Despite some naysayers and Silicon Valley’s abandonment of the chairs after the dot-com bubble burst, they are celebrated as a prestigious office indulgence. More than 6 million Aeron chairs have been sold to date and one is produced every 17 seconds!

Aeron chairs were originally designed with the elderly in mind, but quickly became the iconic, chic office productivity tool they are known as today. Fast Co. Design ran a story on the Toyota-inspired manufacturing process of these beauties. Watch the rapid production of an Aeron chair below:

Engineers and designers continue to create savvy ways to maximize productivity in the workplace through ergonomic design. Standing desks, upright workstations, exercise balls, and unconventional chairs like the LImbic are currently touted as healthier solutions to traditional seating options. We may try some of these in the future, but for now, we’re satisfied with our Aerons. And, hey, they’re a tremendous improvement over our previous chairs.
