TWC App Station US Open Edition

As a sponsor of the 2014 US Open, Time Warner Cable (TWC) is providing attendees with an enhanced experience during the event by opening the Time Warner Cable Studios.

Time Warner Cable Studios is a dedicated branded event space at the US Open which all attendees are invited to visit. 235 Access points make this TWC’s biggest public installation to date. TWC is the official WiFi service provider of the US Open.

A special tennis edition of the interactive App Station was created for this space. It is the same style as the App Station which acts as a showpiece in the TWC retail locations, the special edition created for the US Open shows content that is relevant for the event. The theme of the station is local to the venue in Flushing, Queens. It features tennis-specific imagery, and displays the official US Open news feed. The app station is 11-feet and features an interactive touch-screen.

Visitors are also able to watch the game live on a multi-screen video wall or play the “measure the speed of your swing” game. Since TWC is a sponsor of the umpires chair, visitors can take green screen pictures of themselves in the chair. Time Warner Cable Studios also serves as a comfortable spot to relax on benches where visitors can access free WiFi, and charge their mobile devices.

Information about Time Warner Cable’s free apps can be found throughout the US Open venue. During the US Open TWC reps used the app station to walk customers and potential customers through some of their most popular apps, and helped them to install those apps on their phones before leaving. Attendees who charged their mobile devices in the Time Warner Cable Studios were provided with TWC screen cleaners with app information.

Due to the size of the stadium, this is one of the biggest events in tennis. Last year the US Open hosted 713,026 attendees, making it the most attended annual sporting event in the world.

The 2014 US Open takes place August 25 through September 8, at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows. TWC is live and on location through the entire two week event.
